“I've always believed we can live with less plastic without giving up convenience. Every wrap I make is my way of proving it — one kitchen at a time.”

Moekie's beeswax wraps in a bright kitchen

From hobby to heart

In 2017, Tanya started experimenting with beeswax food wraps from her kitchen in Oudtshoorn South-Africa. She wasn't trying to start a business — she just cared deeply about reducing plastic waste and loved creating things by hand. She gifted her early wraps to friends and family, quietly perfecting the formula until it was something truly special.

The leap of faith

In April 2023, Tanya was retrenched. Instead of job hunting, she took a leap of faith — she turned her beloved hobby into a full-time business. Today, Moekie's wraps are handmade in Oudtshoorn South-Africa using pure Karoo beeswax, organic coconut oil, and pine resin. Her multiple vibrant designs have found their way to kitchens in Germany, Sweden, Finland, Thailand, Botswana, and Ireland.

Why your support matters

Running a one-woman handmade business is tough. Rising material costs mean every rand counts. Your donation goes directly toward:

Raw materials — Karoo beeswax, coconut oil and pine resin to keep production going
Equipment — a dedicated setup to grow capacity without cutting corners
Market stalls — so Tanya can keep connecting with customers in person
Eco packaging — plastic-free packaging that lives the brand's values
